IMS Research has a new report out, which entails the transition to IP-based technology and how it is changing the role of the traditional systems integrator.
Such factors include declining profit margins and the increased importance of networking knowledge, as well as the entrance of new IT integrators. IMS Research Analyst Paul Bremner states, "IT integrators have brought their business model of lower equipment costs but higher service costs." Bremner also mentions that security system design and consultancy services, such as risk analysis, vulnerability assessment, and client security policy analysis are likely to become a larger part of integrator's revenues.
Bremner states in his research that design and consultancy revenues depend on vertical markets. For example, transportation is much more likely to include design and consultancy revenues than those in retail or commercial.
IMS Research predicts that physical security equipment sold through integrators and installers will reach more than $38 billion in 2016.
