It's a constant struggle for security managers to get into the pre-construction/renovation phase of any project. So, how do you avoid the issues that can be associated with this? Proper planning! Having a well-documented set of best practices on integration early on in the process can save lots of time and headaches.
"Security managers should be proactive in the "security" discussions earlier at the design table, rather than having to be "reactive" after the fact," stated IAHSS's executive director, Evelyn Meserve.
Meserve explains that equipment installation can be much more expensive once the infrastructure has already been put in place, so it's important for decisions to be made upfront while still in the design process.
