Security Systems Integrator 8th Annual Integrator study entails both positives & negatives from 2011. According to SSI, the most common response when asked to compare 2011's revenues and gross profit to 2010 was "about even (flat, 1% up or down)." In addition, the study also suggests fewer companies reporting gross sales revenues over $5 million. Many integrators continue to feel the pinch of the recession.
On the flip side, new installations are up 12 percentage points from a year ago. The residential market is experiencing positive gains in both access control & video surveillance. The fire-life safety is also up, along with managed access, IP video cameras, new systems, analytics, megapixel cameras, video management (VMS), and physical security information management (PSIM).
